Mantle:
The mantle is the second layer of the earth it is the most complex layer of the earth. That reason is because the mantle has an upper and lower part.
The mantle temperature is 4500 degrees celsius it is made up of 100% magma.
The upper part of the mantle is the asthenosphere which is a solid rock, the temperature of it is approximately 400 degrees C.
The temperature of the lower mantle which is the lithosphere is approximately 300-500 degrees C. The mantle occupies 84% of the Earth surface. The mantle is the thickest layer, it is approximantley 2900 km thick.
Lithosphere
The lithosphere is the upper part of the mantle, it is made up of dense rock . The lithosphere can be between 300 km and 2,890 km below the Earth's surface. The average temperature is 300 degrees C. The lithosphere is 50-100 km thick.
Asthenosphere
The asthenosphere is the lower part of the mantle, it is made up of silicates of iron and magnesium. The temperature of the asthenosphere ranges from 1400 degrees C and 3000 degrees C.
Convection Currents
Convection currents are located inside of the mantle. Convection currents occur when the hot substance from the lower mantle rises, it pushes the cooler upper material down because it is more dense. This circular motion causes the plates in the asthenosphere to move.
